This project covered a full range of web design, development, integration with the Magento E-Commerce package, product photography and internet marketing.

Site setup and recommendations

Performed domain registration services, researched and made the recommendation on the best value hosting package for the Magento product. Created necessary database and installed Magento package.

Magento E-Commerce Product Setup and Custom Header

The majority of the default Magento theme was left intact and only a custom header and footer were
required to integrate the clients existing color palette. This was a much faster, less expensive, design
solution than starting from scratch.

Why Magento

For the price – FREE – Magento is probably the most full featured, robust, E-Commerce product someone on a small budget can use. It includes a shopping cart, wishlists, gift messaging, integration with every major payment gateway, order management, e-mail marketing and on and on. With its robustness comes a substantial learning curve however and it would not be a good fit if you’re running a very small store where you only wish to sell a few products. There is a bit of an art form to picking an E-Commerce package that is right for you. We can help.

Search Engine Optimization and Marketing

In terms of internet and search engine marketing a great deal of time was spent reviewing other industry sites in order to determine the keywords with the highest value. Within a few weeks the site reached the Top 10 in Google in 3 specifically targeted keyword phrases. For the most part a regional business local to Southern/Central Michigan and less than a month after the site went live they received their first ever order from California.

We also aided in identifying the most relevant backlink resources to additionally improve search engine results. Backlinks are essentially links from outside web sites to yours. As you better target placement of backlinks your results can and likely will drastically improve.

Photography

I also provided product photography and Photoshop services using a Digital SLR to provide
high quality photographs at a more reasonable rate than paying for professional photography service.
